Overview
This flow describes how to create a new specimen definition for your facility.
Pre-requisites
- You are a facility member.
- You have the permissions below.
Permissions
| Permission | Access |

| Can Read Specimen Definition | Lets you open the facility specimen definitions list. |
| Can Create Specimen Definition on Facility | Lets you create a specimen definition. |
Steps
1. Open the list
Go to your facility. Select Settings, then Specimen Definitions.
2. Start a definition
Click Add Definition.
3. Fill in basic information
| Components | What it captures |
|---|---|
| Title | Required name. |
| Slug | Required unique identifier of 5 to 25 permitted characters. |
| Status | Draft, Active, or Retired. Active is selected. |
| Derived From URI | Optional source web address. |
| Description | Required detail. |
4. Add specimen details
Set required Type Collected and optional Collection and Patient Preparation.
5. Add type tested information
Optionally set Is Derived, Single Use, Preference, Retention time, Requirement, and container Description, Cap, Capacity, Minimum Volume, and Preparation.
6. Save
Click Save.
Expected Outcome
- Care confirms creation.
- The list shows the active definition.
