OHC
Open Healthcare Network
The nonprofit foundation that builds and stewards CARE, an open operating system for healthcare.
CARE
Open Healthcare Network's flagship product: an open-source, FHIR-native electronic medical record (EMR) and healthcare operating system.
CARE Core
The stable platform slab of CARE, providing reusable primitives such as patients, facilities, encounters, orders and observations.
EMR
Electronic Medical Record — the digital record of a patient's clinical information.
HMIS
Hospital Management Information System — software covering registration, encounters, labs, pharmacy, billing and reporting.
FHIR
Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources — an HL7 standard for exchanging healthcare data. CARE is built on FHIR R5.
SNOMED CT
A comprehensive clinical terminology used to code diagnoses, findings and procedures.
LOINC
Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes — a standard for identifying laboratory and clinical observations.
UCUM
Unified Code for Units of Measure — a standard for encoding measurement units in health data.
ICD-10
The 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases, used for coding diagnoses.
ABDM
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission — India's national digital health ecosystem and interoperability rails.
DPG
Digital Public Good
Open-source software, data, or content that advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals; CARE is listed in the DPG registry.
TeleICU
A hub-and-spoke model of critical care where specialists remotely support intensive care units in other facilities.
10BedICU
A program that has deployed 200+ tele-ICUs in remote districts of India, built on CARE.
